Natural Gas Excess Flow Valve Customer Notification
CPS Energy is committed to providing our customers with safe and reliable natural gas service. In accordance with recent federal regulations, our Gas Delivery team is in the process of deploying an Excess Flow Valve (EFV) installation program on some of our existing natural gas service lines.
An EFV is designed to automatically stop the flow of gas if the service line is broken. Stopping the flow of natural gas from a broken service line significantly reduces the risk of a natural gas incident that could result in personal injury and/or property damage.
New natural gas regulations only require us to notify customers of their right to request an EFV; however, due to our commitment to safety, CPS Energy has decided to proactively install these devices on all qualifying service lines through a multi-year program, at no cost to our customers, as well as maintain and replace equipment, as necessary, at no charge.
EFVs are not appropriate in all instances and are not installed on all natural gas service lines. Our deployment team will be contacting qualifying customers to discuss the installation process.
If you would like your gas service to be evaluated for installation, please contact (210) 353-4338. If you qualify, we’ll coordinate a date to make the installation.
